After opening the daycare in Pueblo Modelo in September 2018, Hearts In Motion (HIM) surveyed the living conditions of the children in the daycare. The results of the survey were astounding. Most of the children and their families were living in tin/tarp huts, or mud houses.
Consequently, HIM decided to help improve the living conditions of those families. A goal was set to start building houses for all of the children in the program who were living in tin/tarp huts and mud houses.
The children in the program were also receiving solar lights and water filters thanks to the donations from Gerry Rambo and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (GSLC).
Building One House At A Time
With the help of generous donors like Jim & Rhonda Bradley, Bellarmine University, St. Michael’s Church, Aaron Frazita, Colette and Chris Mattingly, Ridgecrest United Methodist Church/Terry Ratcliff and Scott Maher, just to name a few, we started to build houses for the children attending the Pueblo Modelo Daycare. Since 2018, we have completed 17 houses for the children and their families. Most the families have also received new stoves and outdoor toilets with their new homes.
We Still Have A Lot More Work To Do
Hearts In Motion would like to continue its mission by providing better living conditions for the families in Pueblo Modelo; however, we need your support to continue this quest. Please help HIM in its mission of improving the living conditions of those children and their families by funding the building of a house. You can donate a house yourself, or you can enlist family members and donate as a group. Groups of friends, church members, school and/or university students clubs can also team up to fund the building of a house.
