Weekly Feed Program
In 2008, Hearts In Motion (HIM) started a Weekly Feed Program. The program was started to help children from the most impoverished families in the Valle Montagua region. For many of those children, it was the only opportunity they had to receive a well-balanced meal throughout the week. The program started as a once a week program then grew to twice a week in order to meet the growing demand in the area.
The children also had access to medical, vision, and dental care when volunteer medical teams traveled to HIM in Guatemala on mission trips.
Approximately 120 children were being fed every week on a consistent basis until last year when everything ground to a halt due to the pandemic. In 2020, HIM shifted its focus to meet the needs on the ground by distributing food bags to the children and their families in the Weekly Feed Program.
This year, HIM has returned to feeding the children with “take away” meals. The “take away” meals have been well received by the children and their families who desperately need the help. Hearts In Motion will continue providing meals in this fashion until the pandemic restrictions are lifted in Guatemala.
We know the children miss the social aspects of the feed; however, our mission right now is to meet their basic needs.
To all the sponsors, HIM thanks you for your continuing support of the Weekly Feed Program.
