Serving Central and South America
HIM hosts trips to various countries in Central and South America. Our Central America headquarters is located in the state of Zacapa, Guatemala. This is also home to our Nutrition Center, Reese House and Senior Center. Guatemala is one of the poorest countries in Latin America. It has a population of around 17 million people and 79% live in poverty.
“When they say we are a representative of HIM they mean it figuratively and literally! I stand in awe at what God is doing through HIM for this beautiful third world country full of lovely people that believe that God will provide for all of their needs! There were so many great moments, I’ll definitely remember them all & return!”
We hope you join us and see the impact one person can make!
Our Mission: Empowering our volunteers to positively impact the lives of people in need.
Hundreds travel miles and wait hours to receive care.
Our teams provide medical care.
Day 2 – Unpack, sort and organize supplies. Often we will have an afternoon outing to take lunch to the children living in the garbage dump or spend time with some of the village children.
Day 3-6– Depending on the mission, Monday through Thursday are work days where we spend time visiting villages providing medical care, constructing or painting a school, connecting with the children through crafts, songs and games, distributing shoes, or whatever the team is called to do. We typically eat breakfast at 7 and depart at 8. Lunch is provided at the worksite. After a fulfilling day building relationships with the Guatemalan people and working, we return to the hotel around 4, take a swim in the hotel pool and prepare for dinner. One afternoon, we will spend in Gualan where your heart will be on fire for those you will meet at the Nutrition Center, Orphanage, and Senior Center and you will get an inside look at the impactful programs that serve the surrounding areas in addition to helping with the Weekly Feed. You will fall in love with the beauty of the children and the people and the impact HIM has made on hundreds of people every day.
Day 7 – Many teams choose to leave Zacapa in the morning and go to Antigua, Guatemala, a tourist city with shopping and cobblestone streets. Many activities are available during the day ranging from coffee tours, zip lining or shopping, followed by a lovely dinner and a hotel stay.
Day 8 – Departure
Washing hands in preparation for the weekly feed.
Applying varnish to children’s teeth to prevent decay.
