Every week, Aura and her husband, Mercedes, walk an hour to and from our senior center, in order to enjoy the company of others over prayer, song, food, and other fun activities. Aura herself worked as a cook for a senior center in the past and every week expresses her gratitude that this program is available to her. Aura has experienced unthinkable tragedy in her life, with the drowning of her first husband and daughter as well as the murder of her oldest son. Following the death of her husband, she remarried some years later and has been cast aside by her only remaining child because of this. Aura and her current husband consider themselves to be "childless", which gives them an even greater appreciation for the support and love that they receive through the senior program. In her free time, Aura enjoys making candies and giving them as gifts to loved ones.
Aura is one of our beautiful Seniors. The Center invites Seniors from the neighboring community to enjoy a nutritious lunch and a time to socialize together. The center provides different activities which they can participate in together such as gardening and sewing. Not only do we offer them nutritious meals, but we surround them with opportunities to use the life skills they have acquired in a loving and supporting atmosphere where they are valued and respected.
