Rehabilitation Services
Restoring mobility. Rebuilding lives.
Rehabilitation Services in Guatemala
Since 2002, Hearts In Motion has provided free or donation-based rehabilitation services to individuals of all ages in Guatemala. No one is ever turned away.
What began with therapy sessions on picnic tables has grown into a network of three permanent clinics, staffed by Guatemalan professionals and supported by international volunteers. Our mission is to help people living in poverty recover from injuries, manage disabilities, and regain mobility—with dignity and hope.
Therapy Services & Global Collaboration
Our Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy teams work in diverse settings, offering evaluations and direct care. We bring college students, faculty, and licensed therapists on service trips throughout the year to collaborate with Guatemalan professionals and students. These trips provide valuable clinical experience and foster cross-cultural learning.

Our Therapy Clinics in Guatemala
Providing Care, Equipment, and Hope
Hearts In Motion opened its first therapy clinic in the city of Zacapa in 2005. Since then, we’ve expanded to include clinics in Gualán (2012) and Teculután (2015)—each serving individuals of all ages with physical disabilities, injuries, and mobility challenges.
Our clinics offer:
- Direct therapy services, including follow-up care for post-surgical patients
- Support for disability management and mobility improvement
- Distribution of adaptive equipment such as:
- Braces
- Crutches
- Walkers
- Wheelchairs
These services help people recover, regain independence, and improve their quality of life—especially those living in poverty with limited access to healthcare.
How you can help
Recovery is hard. Living with a disability is harder when you can’t afford care or equipment. Our clinics help people facing these challenges every day. Please consider donating to support this transformational work.
Donate new or gently used mobility aids.
Canes, walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, AFOs, and more. We ship a container of these essential items to Guatemala each year to support our programs.
